Christmas Lottery Vendor Attacker Caught By Police In Bangkok

Featured Replies

On 25th December we reported on a vicious attack on a lottery vendor in Soi Neun Plub Wan, whereby the attacker used a metal pipe and struck the vendor across the head. He then proceeded to steal money and unsold tickets. Since then, Police have been searching for the suspect and also believe him to be responsible for a fatal attack on a lottery vendor back in September 2009 and a further attack on a vendor back on 12th December. Police were able to locate the suspect, Khun Sombat aged 47 at the Morchit Bus Terminal in Bangkok. He was taken back to Banglamung Police Station where he confessed to the attacks and claimed he had taken out a loan for 90,000 Baht which he was struggling to pay-back. He decided to commit the robberies to assist him in paying back the loan. Police do not entirely believe his story and revealed to us that he had been in prison for 6 years in Bangkok because of previous cases of aggravated theft. He is now behind bars once again and will appear in court later this week to face charges of serious assault, theft and murder.
