I Like Americans Because....

Do you actually read the posts that you comment on before replying to them? I was joking with Ian about his post and you don't even realize this? He and I get along fine.

You who followed Kevin Hunt around bitching about his every post for weeks have no room to criticize anyone else's logic or bitching or anything else. You have proven many times that you have a serious problem even understanding what you read. :)

On a serious note and back on topic, I like Americans because they give more to charities than anyone else in the world.  I am in the US right now for two weeks, and watching some of the things people are doing to assist Haiti is heartwarming.  The University of Kentucky basketball team raised over $1,000,000, a 10-year-old kid raised $200,000, a 9-year-old kid organized a blanket drive, a hair salon opened on their off-day and gave haircuts for 1/2 price with all proceeds going to the Haiti Salvation Army, and so on.

No real reply. Just a few selective comments and flames, your usual way of debating. Yes I read the posts. Quite what Kevin Hunt has to do with Americans escapes me. If i review all the posts between Kevin and me including private messages I am afraid I can not agree your comment. You obviously will not accept your posts re Harcourt and Laopo were disruptive but Laopo even closed a thread because of your disruption as he himself posted. Even some Americans see what you are doing. I give this as an example of a trait to which you subscribe.

There are many reasons why I like Americans - both here and in Chiangmai - but there are unfortunate traits as with any nationality. Brits, French, .....

The trait that you but not all yanks exhibit is that of no tolerance of people's views.

That's what you get when people aren't raised to think the government is supposed to do everything for you. But I suppose in the extreme case of Haiti even countries in Europe and around the world are holding fund raisers like telethons and concerts, right?

What are you on about? I have no problem tolerating sceadugenga's views even though we often disagree. He is straight forward and intelligent. He listens to other viewpoints and is able to look at himself honestly.

I do admit that I do not suffer fools gladly, but of course that would not apply to anyone here on Thai Visa. :)

I'm not rising to your usual bait, Corporal Ulysses. You stick to selling books and taking advice from the sisters. Reading books or posts is not your strong point. :D

At least I have some idea of what they said when I am finished. You just make up your own foolish stories that have nothing to do with what you read! :)

I disagree with almost everyone about almost everything. I still respect their views right to their views however, and often sometimes learn from them to the point where I change my own. What matters to me is their honesty, integrity and forthrightness in presenting their views. While I often disagree with UG he measures up for me on all those counts. Though sometimes he can be petty, it not nearly to the extent I see others engaging in pettiness.
