UAE sheikh cleared in videoed torture case

A member of the ruling family of the United Arab Emirates has been cleared of the torture of a business associate.

Lawyers for Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the president's brother, said the court ruled he had been drugged and so was "unaware of his actions".

WARNING: quite graphic:

Q: would a non-Sheikh-related individual get away with this ?

Why are we questioning the obvious?

When was the last time a rich man's son rode the needle?

When was the last time a rich and aristocratic man's son was aquitted of something.

When was the last time a rich and aristocratic man's son was aquitted of something.

that's no excuse for the disgusting :) procedure in a "court of law"! something that is possible in the Gulf but would have been impossible in Saudi Arabia.

That video was undeserving of the "WARNING: quite graphic:" label.

It's bad, yes. It's torture, yes. It's wrong, yes. But it isn't so graphic that it needs a warning label.

Did anyone (not on this forum I bet) really think that a member of the royal family would go to jail or get punished? They are pretty much allowed to do whatever they want down there, aren't they?

I warned out of courtesy since there are also Ladies on this Forum.

Not everyone is used to images that a 4-wheel drive car, with the Sheikh behind the wheel, drives slowly over a helpless person and hearing cracking and breaking bones after the man is beaten....

But, of course you might have seen worse.

He was in sand. And yes, I have seen worse. I've been in the car as we drove over someone's legs while he was on concrete. I freaked out until he got up and ran away (I was young and it was my first time). But I appreciate you wanting to warn any ladies here that a torture video on OTB might be too graphic for them. It sure ain't baking cookies or cleaning the house.

I beg to differ. i believe I'm "persona non grata" in the Saudi kingdom for physically removing "some shiekh's nepehew" off my ship. He was our shipping agent and was giving instructions to the Sudanese giant who walked our decks with a large stick to beat Bangldeshi longshoremen if they didn't work hard enough. I prevailed and had both the agent and his enforcer removed, but I'm not sure I'm welcome back. Barbaric people.

you got you experience, i got mine.

Having spent a fair bit of time in the UAE, Dubai in particular, nothing really shocks me about that video, standard sort of stuff for that place.

Obviously the financial stress is getting to these idiots and I cant help but say, "SUCKED IN". I mean the stupidity and greed of these @holes is second to none. :)
