Laptop From The Uk In Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi,

Will a laptop bought in the UK work OK in Thailand? I'm thinking in terms of power supply and broadband modem connection here. Are there some adapters that I'll have to buy one out there in Thailand, or can I just take the laptop from England, plug it in and go?

Thanks,

Dan.

The only thing you should need is a travel plug adapter for the mains connection plug, which you can buy here or in the UK. They are available in most large supermarkets here for about 1 pound.

The mains voltage and telephone sockets in Thailand are the same as the UK.

You need the US style 'RJ8' phone plug (the tiny clear plastic thingy) rather than the big white UK phone plug. You probably got one with the laptop anyway.

The power sockets are the US style as well (although 230V 50Hz).

Otherwise all is the same.

Just buy a telephone cable here in Thailand.

The connector on your notebook is standard RJ45, it is the end that goes in the

wall that is different.

For broadband you will need a lan cable to connect to the modem/Router.
