On Thursday Afternoon at Pattaya City Hall, Khun Ronagit, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, chaired a meeting concerning two important issues relating to the beaches of Pattaya and Jomtien and at Larn Island, off the coast of Pattaya. The first issue discussed related to the recent death of a Russian Tourist on Larn Island who was hit by a speed boat as he swam in the water off the Island. Although he was thought to be swimming in a designated boating channel, it was decided that the swimming zones around the Island must be separated in a clearer manner, from the boating channels, to avoid a similar accident in the future. The equipment needed to do this is now available and over the next few days, it will be installed on the beaches at the Island.

The issue of masseurs causing problems with Tourists on Jomtien Beach was also discussed and the Deputy Mayor was told that a dramatic increase of masseurs has taken place and they are coming into conflict amongst themselves and with tourists as they compete for business. The Deputy Mayor will look into this problem further and may set up a registration scheme for masseurs to bring them under some form of control.
