Immigration Stamp In Passport Or Visa Date?

Featured Replies

I dunno if anyone's posted something like this recently, but I didn't seem to find any so I figured I'd just come out and ask someone.

Anyways. I'm currently in Thailand on a non-immigrational, class B visa. It's set to expire early next month. However, I recently went to Laos for SongKran, and on my passport they stamped the usual 3 months stay date. Meaning that according to the stamp I don't ahve to leave the country till July.

Now my question is, seeing as I wasn't planning to move away till late June, and don't realy feel like going on a visa run for the purpose of a new visa just for 2 months, will I still be charged for overstay even though the stamp at the immigration checkpoint clearly show that I can remain in Thailand until mid July?

If that is the case, I will have to plan a trip, as I don't really feel up to dealing with the hassle of overstay but at the same time if a visa run ends up costing the same as the overstay charges.... who knows.

So any advice on this? and does someone really know the situation? Any realistic help is highly appreciated. Thanks.

I think what you are trying to say is that your non imm visa expires next month...

No problem.... your stamp shows that you can remain until July ... irrespective of whether your visa expires , when the visa expires it just means you cannot use it anymore to enter Thailand.... :o

Hope this helps

Sweet deal, thanks! I think that covers what I needed to now. But not trying to disregard everything you've said, who are the best people I can call to confirm this information other than the immigration office? I have a very hard time explainign anything to them..... :o

If you feel the need to confirm this and don't want to speak to immigration, maybe you could call an immigration lawyer...

Its the entry stamp, not the visa. I left the country on the last day of my Non-O a while ago and got another 3 months.

What has been posted above is correct..............its the date on the entry stamp that counts .

The date on the visa itself is purely its "use by" date.

Seconded :o
