Buriram To Chaing Mai

Featured Replies

I am wanting to find out how long will a trip by car from Buriram town to Chaing Mai will take and how many KLM it is

If any one has done it what is there to see on the way

I will be doing driving and I am acustomed to the Thai style of driving (DOH!)

I drive Kap Choeng-Chiang Mai about 6 times a year about 960 klm with a couple of fuel stops and a couple of rest stops it takes about 14 hours, your should be a little less but not much. Recommend you jump over to 2 go north to Khon Kaen the east on 12 to Phisanulok then north on 11 to Chiang Mai. Roads are good to excellent all the way. There is some construction north of Phisanulok around the Den Chai area but just take your time. The drive on 12 goes threw national forest and is great.

I do it regularly & allow 11 hours driving time. My preference is Route 1 via Nakhon Sawan & then Nakhon Ratchasima because of the terrible driving of the VIP buses on the winding sections between Lampang & Phitsanulok. I have had to contend with 2 buses side by side on a 2 lane section on more than one occasion, & the only thing to do is get off the road into the gravel. One time there will be no safety space & that will be curtains for me. The only problem with Route 1 is the very bad surface around Tak. Otherwise a long but enjoyable drive.

Thanks for advice will be doing a bit of map reading

i have done it from c.m to maha salakam but buriram is just an hour from salakam, i went from chang mai, pitsanalouk, pechabun, chyapoon, khon kaen, salakam then buriram. from chang mai to salakam i think it took me around 20 hrs. i think we left cm at about 12 afternoon and arrived maha salakam next day at 6pmish.. we made few stops on way for drinks and food etc maybe 3 hrs altogether, we travelled major routes and main highways.

I do this drive 3 times a year, round trip.

My route is Hwy 2074 from Buriram to the intersection of HWY 202.

Take Hwy 202 due West to Chaiyaphum then get on to Hwy 225. Three hours later go North on Hwy 11. No since I am doing the drive with 3 kids, I stop for the night in Phitsanulok (Topland Hotel). In the morning it is bask to Hwy 11 then North into Chiangmai via Lampang.

Buriram to Phitsanulok - 510 Km

Phitsanulok - Chiangmai - 330 Km

Few gas stops between Chaiyaphum and Hwy 11.

The road is good the whole way. Don't drive at night! In one go should take around 11 hours.......

Good luck!
