Happy Birthday Australia

Featured Replies

I usually manage to get this in on Australia Day.

When I was at school we sang "The Song Of Australia" and many hoped it would become our national anthem rather than the dirge that did.

Being written by a South Australian there was no hope of that though.

There is a land where summer skies

are gleaming with a thousand dyes;

blending in witching harmonies, in harmonies;

and grassy knoll and forest height,

are flushing in the rosy light,

and all above is azure bright -

Australia, Australia, Australia !

So good they posted it twice :)

Especially meaningful coming from a KIWI - at least he lives in KIWI-land. :D

"I Love A Sunburnt Country" was always evocative for me.

As was "The Geebung Polo Club" and "Clancy of the Overflow"

Happy birthday Australia ..and Hardcourts dad. :)

And how do these citizens celebrate ??

Vegemite Wrestling !!!!

Don't ask me who won.

No pink bits - but lots of sticky brown bits.

And it looks like they used the proper stuff, not this cheese and VM mix.

We had a pretty good night last night here in Indo.

A whole bunch of us Aussies got together and..well...celebrated...

I wish I had some vegemite here. Although I do have a bunch of wasabi...

This me, my wife and our daughter Jasmine.
