deejay Posted May 2, 2005 Posted May 2, 2005 Hi, I am a South African getting married to a Thai woman. What paperwork is needed from my Department of Home Affairs or Embassy to register the marriage in Thailand? I do have: 1.) Letter of Affirmation from Department of Home Affairs in South Africa, stating that I am DIVORCED. 2.) Old Marriage Certificate (if needed) 3.) Passport (obviously) 4.) Letter from my Employer here in Saudi Arabia, confirming my employment and annual income (I guess this is only needed later for O visa application) I did e-mail the South African Embassy in Bangkok, some time ago but no reply sofar...and they dont seem to have a website.. What else will I need? Thanks guys!
astral Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 You need to get the affirmation of divorce redone by your embassy in Bangkok. It must be signed by the official at the embassy. Get it translated. Go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Khor Suang Tang Prathet) with the original and the translation. The Minstry will certify that the signature of your Embassy official is know to them. Then you can go to the Amphur Office with your intended. She will need her id card and household papers. You had better check that she is also free to be married!! Happy days.
