Signature on new passport

I have a new US Passport for my baby and wanted to know about the signature being blank. Underneath is "not valid until signed". When she travels will I need to sign it or can it remain blank?

They issued my childs passport when she was 3 months old in mexico at the consulate,and they told me to sign it,,her name "by Father"    but you could sign it "by mother" which ever..Hope this helps.

Usually there is a notation ' Unable to Sign '. I am certain you are safe and sound, but to be remove any doubt, phone the Embassy.
