^I remember those sweets from when I was a kid. I'm amazed they still make them.

And here I was thinking they were luvy duvy mood enhancers.... :)

My special someone has informed me that ive broke his heart. Special someones sometimes forget that when they have you, they should appreciate you. Sadly its only until you finally cant take anymore, and you are gone, do they realise that.

What are you telling us eek? And should it be in a valentines thread?

Also, my wife and I have been married for 20 years and I want to do something special for valentines day. Has anyone got any ideas?

Give her a night out alone? :)

....

..sorry Tigs. Valentines Day is great when you have someone to share it with, but its one of those days you wish would be swiftly gone when a relationship turns sour, or you are single. But, i shouldnt really put a downer on a Valentine thread, so apologies.

That's cool eek. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'd like to do something 'thoughtful' as inevitably after 20 years you start to take each other for granted.

Oh my giddy aunt, what a link to post in a valentines thread! :)

Hey tiggy, i guess depends on what kind of lady your wife is. Some dont go for the whole romantic thing much. Personally, i never got tired of getting a dozen roses. But im a soppy soft touch type. Cut roses are decadent imo. A beautiful bouquet of flowers (doesnt need to be all roses even), would make the day special for me, because i know the flowers wont last and its not an everyday thing, so it marks the day as special. Even if a man didnt have much money, a single rose would be so appreciated by me. But for a long term relationship the big bouquet thing makes me feel treasured. Im not into the cuddly toy malarky or even cards and things. Just a fantastic big bunch of quality flowers and i'd be on a high!

Sorry, this is just another one of those rubbish commercial days of the year, like christmas and easter etc. I don't play this valentines crap and my gf knows it, instead I chose the time and dates to do special things for my lady & it happens more often than once a year. Boycott this crap people :)

I'm with neverdie.

If people need a particular day of the year to be romantic, well it is very romantic is it? Surely romance should be spontaneous or some special to a particular couple, thankfully my misses ain't all gooey about it either.

A bouquet for Eek aside..... I'm with you two. Partly because of my shared sentiments with eek, but mostly because ND is right.

Don't get me wrong folks, my wife and I don't do ANY dates, birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Vanentines, etc. However, because we don't I thought it would be a pleasent surprise for me to organise something.

BTW eek this would be more my wifes taste.

I always get worried when my posts are not met with fierce opposition.....so can you imagine my surprise when two people instantly agree with me :) .

But seriously, we must be out of control in this world now, jumping in masses to the demands of the worlds major co-orporations who tell us when we should celebrate this and celebrate that.....can you imagine all the money the dim wits of the world are spending on this valentines day rort?

Have you ever noticed how the price of flowers and chocolates quadripples at this time of the year, as well as an increased rate of suicide amoungst lovers who didnt cut the mustard, so to speak.

Anyway, tis not for neverdie, as I said before, I hate this rubbish.

It's good for the economy neverdie, can you imagine the loot florists and card makers and their employees rake in?

I think people need a bit of light fluff in their lives occasionally, things are just too serious these days anyway.

Yes, I always give my current wife/girl-friend a big bunch of flowers ......

when I start a new affair :D

I always find it amusing that the real Valentine was murdered in Ancient Rome (or allegedly martyred - not much is known about him), so I cannot understand how he has cornered the market in slushy over-commercialised love tat.

Surely we should be thinking about brutal murder and religious intolerance on Valentine's Day? :)

My Thai Wife is hooked on Nat King Cole........... :)

suegha

why not a picnic somewhere nice and quiet, throw in a nice warm rug (I know its kinda cold in the UK at the moment)

<kinda cold she says - what an understatement I hear them frown :))

and throw in lotssssssssss of those nice flowers on your picnic rug, a nice bottle of red, good music, and maybe watch a movie under the stars.

oh gosh.....i cant believe I can still suggest things as corny as that...thought Id become so much of a cynic when it comes to romance.......

Doesn't sound corny to me. You're not a cynic at all. The only bit is the outdoor suggestion, it's bloody freezing here at the mo. I suppose I could get out our skiing gear and thermal underwear - now there's a turn on! :D

How about an indoor observatory then

or the changing room at emirates stadium :)

Stuff valentines day my anniversary is this month and that has much more meaning to both of us!

I was away fishing for most of the week and was looking forward to some bar time, but I think I'll have to stay away for a few more days. Otherwise my bar bill is going to eat up my monthly budget. Too many of my lady friends will be expecting something special from this old sod. :):D

Sad to hear of eek's personal situation, but congrats to Tiggs on 20 years of wedded bliss ('...and they've never had an argument'). But I'm with the Dead Man; another opportunity for me to trot out my 'bah, humbug' line...

Bugga, guess I is gunna hafta buy blotty flowers.

Total waste of money, stupid wimmin.

Cupla roses and a box of Roses chocs should keep me sweet.
