Staying In Ubon

Featured Replies

going to ubon for a week, looking around etc. and was wondering if there are any bars to meet local expats in?

Wrong Way Cafe on Phadaeng Road, N-Joy Pub on Phalochai Road and Peppers on Uppalisan Road (opposite the airforce base entrance) are the three main places.

Is Peppers a new place?Didn't hear about during my previous visits to Ubon.

hmmm

i wouldn't socially - construct Peppers as a "bar", more of a cafe cum restaurant

Yeah I was wondering that but I figured well we do actually have a bar, we do sell beer and wine and we have many expats coming in (some to socialise) that I thought I would put it on the list (although last). You are correct though downtown we are a breakfast, pizza, coffee and cake cafe, not a 'bar'.

basjke, we opened about 9 months ago.

Considering it is just around the corner from me I have been very slack in never paying this place a visit as it has been recommended to me by many people. Can you explain a little more DT what has happened with it?

Hi, I hope your stay in Ubon is a pleasant one, if you find yourself in need of transport we at Jay Jay can rent you a car or motorbike ( yes we have cars now also ) so if you speak to Andrew at Peppers or Ting at the Wrong way Cafe they'll give you the details, but in short a motorbike is available for 250bht a day and a car from 1300 bht per day, some discount is given for longer term rentals.

Hope to see you around the town

You have cars now as well? Excellant! Soon as you have some info on that mate please drop it down to the shop. I will stick something up on my site as well for you like I did with the bikes if you like.

first visited swing bar back in 2004, it was quite good then, good selection of drinks, not too pricey, very pretty chix serving in there and a pretty decent live band. subsequent visits over the last few years have been disappointing, culminating last november. got there with wifey at about 9.00 , ok a bit early i know. very bored staff, yet another re - jigging of the layout. over the next few hours the only other customers who came in were some mafiaoso types, who strangely sat outside, very un - thai like . anyway, to summerise, devoid of atmosphere and crap staff is what happened to it.
