Sorry Guys I read this thread a while back but can't find it.

How much money do you have to show when making a visa run accross the border to get re-entry, can it be shown in traveller's cheques?

Many Thanks

TP.

I believe it's different in each border station. I remember a thread a few months ago that mentioned there was some specific requirement in Mae Sai?

TOURIST VISA EXEMPTION

- According to the Interior Ministerial Announcements dated 1 October B.E. 2545 (2002), 20 December B.E. 2545 (2002) and 18 October B.E. 2547 (2004) , passport holders from 39 countries and Hong Kong SAR do not require a visa when entering Thailand for tourism purposes if their stay in the Kingdom does not exceed 30 days.

- The applicant must possess instrument of means of living expenses 10,000 Baht per person and 20,000 Baht per family accordingly.

Above extract from MFA website...............should point out that it depends where you are doing your run Thailand/Cambodian border points dont ask for show of funds main problem seems to of been up at Mai Sai crossing.

ThaiPaully, this was debated endlessly when Mae Sai started to enforce this old requirement. I think I've gone three times since then, and many others have also reported.

If you're well dressed and polite, don't have a passport full of 30-day stamps, etc., they probably won't even ask. It wouldn't hurt to have 20,000 baht on your persons; the border isn't that risky. Or, a very fresh ATM receipt showing over 20K in a Thai bank might do, or yesterday's updated savings passbook.

Traveler's checks are a hassle for long-term residents. I wouldn't buy them if you don't already have them. Chances are that they'll never ask.

Aand apparently they're still having you pay US$5 per person to give to the Myanmar officer. You just pay 250 baht to the Thai officer and he gives you a US $5 bill.
