Converting Wav Files To Mp3

Featured Replies

I have a number of WAV files I want to convert to MP3 files.

Can anyone suggest a utility to do this?

Thanks,

Colin

Hello, Niloc!

Try SUPER

Click the link above.

The download link is all the way to the bottom of the page.

I use the Sound Converter, which you can find in the software center. There's really no need to go looking around too much if that is all you want to do. Very easy to use, but you need to make sure you have LAME so you can make mp3s, which comes as part of the restricted extras package in Ubuntu.

Sony Sound Forde is the best. Pro audio but it might be over kill but i couldnt live with out it. I even put win XP on my Mac just for it.

Do one of you really use Linux? I normally, when I convert a WAV to MP3 I also want to edit it a bit. I use Audacity, which is a package which should be available in the repository. Remember that for converting WAV to MP3 you likely need extra libraries which are available with installing the multimedia-codec packages.

Hi.

I'm using SoundConverter (or SoundKonverter for KDE, they are quite identical) for simple conversions and Audacity for more sophisticated tediting. Ubuntu 9.04, "restricted extras" and "w32codecs" packages installed.

Kind regards.......
