With an upcoming trip to england, and the exchange rate being so low, i've realised it's a good time to get a new set of clubs to last me for ages, in england, rather than spend baht on them here.

But what set of irons to buy? I have very little idea. I will look on the net, but it's nice to get personal accounts of particular clubs, and hence i'm wondering if any posters can recommend this or that set. I've never had a driver, but will buy one of those too.

Handicap about 15, getting better each year. Don't want anything aimed in the mid-high handicapper range, and that's about the only proviso.

I will also get a custom fitting done, which seems to make sense. I've spent some effort and years to get where i am with a great wilson set which was second hand, but think that i'm ready to get the most of some new equipment.

Any comments on equipment or custom fitting in general also most welcome.

Excellent service and technology. Personally, I'd go there without any preconceptions on make/model and go through the full 3-hour fitting service (woods and irons).

Even if you don't buy through them - you will get a full set of measurements, lofts, optimum shafts, lies etc that you can take elsewhere...

What are you going to do with your old ones?

I'm looking for some cheap clubs to take up the game.

I'm going to sell them! But i'm in chiang mai. However, first i must have my holiday and kit myself up, then i'll be selling them. I'm not in any particular need to change clubs now, but know i will want to get a new set some time, and with the pound as it is, it pays me to do it now.

Looks good although i'd prefer it to be in sussex!

Is it typical to do the fitting retroactively free if one buys clubs from them?

Yes - that's correct. They take the price of the fitting off of the purchase price of the clubs.
