Marriage Visa

Featured Replies

1 simple question: is it legal to work in Thailand if you have a marriage visa? I was under the opinion I had to stay here as a househusband, but some people say it's possible to work and get a work permit with a marriage visa.

What IS the truth?

With a Non-Immigrant O visa ( marriage ) extended for one year you can obtain a Work Permit and you can then work.

of course you are correct, but you make it sound too easy.

you can not just take your PP with extended Non-O visa to the Labour department and ask for a WP. you first have to find a company sponsoring your WP and this is usually the hardest part.

Well it is simple if you find an employer eligible to employ you. But it is comforting to know you can be employed with an extended O visa. :o

So how does it work with the 200,000 Baht (400,000 next year)? Are you supposed to save it from your salary, or get it from a foreign bank? Can you let the immigration know that you are working?

You need the money or a combination of earning and or cash in a bank in Thailand to get a one year extension based on marriage grounds.
