Iphone Gps Not Working?

Featured Replies

A few weeks ago I couldn't get a GPS signal through an app. Tried Google maps and it gave me my usual half-hearted location. I had never tried it prior to some Cydia installs, thus I'm having a bit of difficulty assessing what the problem is.

I have tried it once or twice since, but it still doesn't work. Again, not quite sure if it ever worked, if it's a Cydia installed app, or services are being blocked right now? Any help would be appreciated.

Well actually it could be a problem with the gps chip overheating and causing a misconnection. I have known this to happen with both the gps and wifi chip. (It is far more likely to be a problem with the program.)

However as a solution switch your phone off put it in a plastic bag and then put it in a freezer for 45 minutes. Then try again. This showed what my problem was. (I know it sounds like a joke but it isn't.)

The half ass location you are getting could be use of gsm triangulation if the gps is dead.

I had the same problem and fixed resetting the network

Here's how you fix it:

- Go to settings, general, auto-lock, change it from 1 Minute to NEVER

- Go to settings, general, reset, reset network settings (THIS WILL REBOOT YOUR IPHONE)

- Go outside, in a clear place with NO tree's, buildings, or anything blocking your view of the sky

- Open "MAPS", click NO on all that wi-fi crap, then click the little gps icon, and let it sync up with the satellites (this could take a few minutes)

Thanks Abrak, GmB.

GmB - Resetting my network settings and rebooting seemed to work. It must have been a few months since I've last rebooted my phone.

Abrak - I'll keep this in the back of my mind in case I get stuck.
