Anyone know if my girlfriend being a student at university will make it easier for her to come to Australia for holiday for 3 month stay, i will financially support and any medical treatment cost and what else needed, She does work p/time through the uni but as it is not on regular basis will that make things easy or hard? Also the uncle is in milatary if he writes letter also would that be of good help.. Hope i can get some answers i am going back in 4 weeks and want to try and breeze through the process...Cheers

I would think that the main issue ("does she have a compelling reason to go back home?") would be satisfied by her admitting proof of her continued studies, upon her return to Thailand, into her immigration application.

But I'm sure other people would know more about this than I. My first experience with something similar will come late this year.

A letter from the uncle might help, as well a letter from the dean of her university suggesting that she is doing well and will return to complete her studies at the end of her vacation. Make certain that the dates of her uni's holidays are consistent with the stated period of stayin Australia. Does she already have a Thai passport ?

Thanks for all the advice, My girlfriend has now finished her studies at University but has to graduate in January, if they see that she has to graduate in January, surely they would know at Aus Embassy if she overstayed her visa that it may jeapordise her graduation or put a big bad X against her for future employment, My girlfriend does not have a passport as yet, this will be her first trip overseas, Thanks again if anyone has any other comments to add please do , I am returning in end of July so i want to make sure when we go to Embassy everything will be rosie...Cheers...

Passport is really easy and quick for Thais. My gf's only took 3 days from when she applied until when she picked it up. Bit better than mine here in OZ where i had to wait 2 weeks.
