Need A Car On Samui

Featured Replies

I'm looking to get my hands on a used Suzuki Carribean and am wondering if anyone has any idea of how much I can expect to pay for a decent used one. Any input will be appreciated.

I'd say around 100-150K for a late 90s model, truely awful cars though.

Way under-powered. I rented a very well-maintained new-ish one in Chiang Mai and found myself crawling up some slopes (not that extreme and good tarmac) in first gear.

How much do you want to pay is the big question, SUVs are expensive, I paid 900K for my Ford Escape.

Any suggestions then?

Yeah, walk you lazy bum ! :D

It's only a small little island ! You probably walk enough around here everyday to circle the island ! :o

(it's about time you actually posted something too you lurker !)

I bought a 8 month old Suzuki Caribean Sporty more than two years ago and have done more than 40k in it since(only in Thailand about 6 months a year).Agree its underpowered for fast road work needed 1600cc rather than the 1300 it has.

I enjoy it off road as its had a shackle lift and larger tyres. On a small island It would be no problem at all.I use mine on Koh Chang often now and there are some very unfriendly sudden hills and corners.

Its narrow width has got me out of trouble several times.I thrash it on the roadback to Udon to get a reasonable 'forced' cruising speed. This doesn't help get good gas miles though.Haven't found the spares expensive(except in the rip off crap service Pattaya dealership).I paid 300,000b.Saw similar but unmodified recently 220-250,000b on ads in Pattaya supermarkets. You don't see many Thais driving them mostly expats.
