There is no such thing as a real estate agent in LOS except for BKK, Pattaya & Phuket.

There are a few options, however....Go to the Thaivisa classified section. You can search by province. You won't find a lot, but they will be farang houses for the most part. At least it would be something you might feel comfortable living in. Most likely NOT Thai style.

Second...go to all the banks in the Roi-et area. They ALL have books full of foreclosed properties. Most if not all of them will be Thai style, with most of them suitable for fire department training, however, you might run across something you could live in after a remodel.

Third, check Baht & Sold dot com, as they have real estate adds, as well as Teak Door.

Also do a Google search for properties for sale in Roi-et Thailand. Never know what you may find as some farangs will create heir own website to sell a property.

I know of a great house for sale on the Mekong River if that floats your boat. Go to Thaivisa classifieds & search Mukdahan. 5555

There are real estate agents in Isaan (FBI in Udonthani, Isaan estate agents in Korat) but it appears not in Roi-et.

You will have to do what the Thai's do and drive around looking for bits of paper or cardboard stuck on the gate posts saying "for sale".

Not in Roi Et but in Isan Surin

Real Estate in Isan, Surin

Just had a quick look at some of the prices.

Someone somewhere must be pissing their pants if people actually pay the prices asked.

2 million baht per rai, what can I say.

my thoughts exactly, so I told them. They said that they can advise customers about price but in the end its down to (maybe greedy) property/land owners.

You should try looking for property in Mahasarakham, there's never anything. According to Wikipedia the town was founded in 1865 as a satellite of Roi Et and the province established in 1868 to weaken the power of Roi Et. I'm not sure how well publicised this was. Apart from the University it seems non existent. On Face book you can add pins to a map showing where you've visited. No problem with the surrounding provinces as far as I can see but nothing for Mahasarakham. No train station or airport and you need to go to Khon Kaen to rent a car from an international company. I assume this means that if you can find a place there it will be cheaper although of course that may depend on if they know it's a farang buying and it's quite and very friendly. I asked my gf and she said the same as other posters banks or word of mouth.

Good luck.

Funny you should say that, I help run a local website and we had a Roi Et section. No one posted or had anything of interest to say about the area, so I closed it! :)
