No, no questions....just an observation/opinion.

Whilst most would agree that the Afghanistan problem is not simple black and white, your graphic appears to have been constructed by someone who wants to defend the US involvement in Afghanistan by confusing the "ignorant masses" with complexity. If an individual can not follow the logic, they are more likely to trust those that proffess to.

You also seem to present it with somewhat the same hope.

At least now I know you didn't read the link before posting. One could rightfully say that you posted out of ignorance.

I do, eh? Get a clue. :)

When I first glanced at it, I thought..."So this is the way a woman's mind works!"

What link?

The link that I wanted to post along with the picture. :D

I'm not sure what happened to the link but I'll apologise to you all the same -even though your first instinct was to attack me over it.

You would think they would learn not to take tanks to that particular place, very dangerous place indeed, for a tank commander!

The picture is not that difficult to understand. Something like that can be made for any type of business.

The solution?

Get out of there, stop supplying arms and money and let them take care of their own problems.

But I guess it won't happen anytime soon as King Obama mentioned in his speech the great spirit and perseverance of the troops and American people to not accept defeat.

The more troops are send in the more people will be killed/disabled.

But it is all worth it, no?

:)

I attacked you????? Sheesh! A bit hyper-sensitive there.

Alex.

Wot about Vietnam?

Alex. Wot about Vietnam?

Viet Nam was not a defeat! the victorious U.S. forces and the forces from the "willing" nations withdrew voluntarily to enable Hollywood's heroes Stallone, Norris and a dozen others to conduct single handed dangerous and heroic missions in Viet Nam and Laos. these chaps are too old now and a withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan is delayed till a younger generation of actors is trained for dangerous missions. i can hardly wait for movies dealing with themes such as

-Rambo jr. frees burkhaed western nuns who were kept as sex slaves in Taleban caves,

-Sadr City stormed by Delta Force commando which converts shia Mosque to Synagogue,

-CIA arrests bin-Laden in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he ran a liquor store.

Vietnam is as capitalist as they come.

It's over boys! Vietnam is now a full-fledged member of the globalized world of capitalism. The only thing that the GOP corporate supporters have to worry about with Vietnam is how low they can get those slave wages to go.

America won the Vietnam War by losing it. The dominoes never fell, unless you count them falling toward Wall Street.

http://www.buzzflash.com/editorial/06/03/edi06020.htm

Hmmmmm, link is broken it says.

Zpeed, the Vietnam issue was about preventing a domino effect (spreading of communism) so a false flag operation was carried out in order to justify an invasion/war.

Same crap in Afganistaaaan when the Ruskis were there.

Now it is mostly about protecting so called strategic interest and control of the natural resources and pipeline routes.

Bones.

"Mission Accomplished!"

Wouldn't mind a side bet, that someone, somewhere, thinks there is something else to go along with the bones.

I saw some sci-fi type film not long ago about something mysterious & powerful out in the desert responsible for wiping out armies for centuries and a CIA agent along with some soldiers (kept in the dark about the true mission of course) went there to find out what it was. Worth a download but not a movie ticket.

See !!

I knew someone, somewhere, thinks there is something else down there...................

The movie is called "The Objective" from 2008.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0962711/

In Ghazni Province, Afghanistan, a Special Forces team meets CIA Agent Benjamin Keynes, who explains their mission to find a very important Afghan cleric by the name of Mohammad Aban. The team leader, Wally Hamer sends the men to ready themselves. After being inserted, the team finds a local guide, Abdul, in a village in Southern Afghanistan, where the cleric is from. Together, they set out for the mountains, where the cleric is reputed to be hiding.

As they head further into the mountains, they begin to have strange encounters, first with armed gunmen, who simply disappear when shot, later with strange forces. The further they go, the more dangerous it becomes, as the team realises they are looking not for someone, but something that may not be of this world.

Was it giant toothy worms? I think it's been on HBO.

You're thinking of Dune......although there was a giant toothy worm on Beetlejuice (inspired from Dune, I'm sure).

Taliban hang 7-year-old boy accused of being a spy, suicide bomber kills 40 at Afghanistan wedding

Twisted Taliban militants took terror to a new low by accusing a 7-year-old boy of spying - and hanging him high.

That outrage drew immediate condemnation from the Afghan president, who called the execution a "crime against humanity."

"I don't think there's a crime bigger than that, that even the most inhuman forces on earth can commit," Hamid Karzai said Thursday. "A 7-year-old boy cannot be a spy. A 7-year-old boy cannot be anything but a 7-year-old boy

The execution happened Tuesday in the embattled Helmand province, said Dawoud Ahmadi, a spokesman for the provincial governor.

"The innocent boy was not a spy, but he may have informed the police or soldiers about planted explosives," Ahmadi told Central Asia Today.

"If this is true, it is an absolutely horrific crime," added British Prime Minister David Cameron, while on a stop in Kabul. "I think it says more about the Taliban than any book, than any article, than any speech could ever say."

The victim was reportedly the grandson of a tribal elder.

The Taliban has targeted tribal leaders who have supported the Karzai government or took part in U.S. directed reconstruction programs.

Hanging is a favorite Taliban terror method for getting rid of enemies - and sending a message to other would-be opponents.

Nor is this the first time the Taliban has killed kids. Three years ago, they strung up a 70-year-old woman and a child in the Musa Qala district on trumped up spying charges, Ahmadi said.

As news of the hanging unfolded, the war-torn country was hit with further tragedy as a suicide bomber hit a wedding party, killing at least 40 and severely wounding more than 70 people.

Several children were among the dead and wounded. Bits of flesh and severed limbs covered the site.

A Taliban spokesman denied responsibility for the deadly attack.

The governor of the province rejected the denial.

"The Taliban are doing two things at once," Gov. Tooryalai Wesa said.

"On one side they target people who are in favor of the government, then at the same time they don't want people to know their real face."

Violence is on the rise in June as the U.S. prepares a major summertime operation to cleanse the region of Taliban commanders.

At least 17 U.S. service members have been killed in the past four days, including four Americans who died Wednesday when insurgents in Helmand province's Sangin district - one of the most volatile in the country and where the 7-year-old boy was hanged - shot down a NATO helicopter.

I must confess this article left me a little stunned.

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/world/pakistani-links-alarm-us/story-e6frg6so-1225884481182

Pakistan is reportedly ready to negotiate a partnership deal with the Taliban leadership and an Afghan faction allied to al-Qa'ida.

Reports of the possible power-sharing arrangement between Pakistan and the Taliban came as President Barack Obama conceded yesterday that US troops might need to remain longer in Afghanistan after progress in the war again slowed during a military operation in the city of Kandahar.

I've long suspected the US were kicking the wrong arse.

It should not surprise you,,,, nor should Afghanistan do anything that is not in their LONG term best interest.

Although with what the US has built in Iraq it should be clear to Afghanistan that the US.. while not there for the reason claimed .. also have no intention of leaving anytime soon.

No matter what the ventriloquists dummy named Obama claims. The reality is TPTB have other ideas.
