Hi Lads,

I am fairly new to this whole Visa rig-ma-role thing !!!

Anyway, here's a wee bit of background info.

I met my thai girlfriend in Scotland 2 years ago when we were both studying our masters degree. When our degrees finished we came to thailand. We were living together in the UK for about 7 months. (have pics and stuff)

We have been living in thailand together for 1.5 yrs. My Wife studied in UK (England 5 years and Scotland 2 Years) so she has a good knowledge of the UK already !!!

1) Can you tell me what i need to do to get a full settlement visa and what is our chances or actually getting one?

2) will i need to get info from my folks back home i.e. letters of invitation, empoyment, etc

cheers

Hi, Caledonia_9999.

Your first step should be to read the following from the British Embassy website:-

Guidance - General information (INF 1)

Guidance - Husbands, wives and partners (INF 4)

Public Funds

The two main criteria are that the relationship should be genuine and that you can support and accommodate her and any children without recourse to public funds. I cannot see a problem with the first, but possibly with the second.

Will you have a job, or offer of one, when you return to the UK? If yes, can you prove it? If not, how will you support yourselves? If a family member will be supporting you, then they need to provide evidence that they can afford it (pay slips, bank statements etc.), if you will be living off your savings until you find work then you will need to show you have sufficient.

Where will you be living? If with a friend or relative then they will need to provide details of the accommodation, who else will be living there and, if rented, a landlord's letter giving permission for you to live there.

Have a read through the links, and then come back with any questions.
