how long does it usually take to get a Thai Passport?

I have got a new job back home in New Zealand and I have to be there in 3 weeks. My wife and baby need a Thai Passport and then need to apply for a New Zealand tourists visa, could it all be done in 3 weeks?

Torphun, it only took about 30mins to do the application for my T/W passport at City Hall C/M and Passport was in letterbox 5 days later, dont know about NZ visas but can take months to get visa for oz.

A Thai passport is very simple to get and will have within the week.

took 3 working days to get my babies Thai passport in the Bangkok (Bang Na) office. It is very efficient and they do all of the pictures required at the office.

Visa to NZ? No idea, sorry.

How long are you going back to NZ for?

If it is for a while, then your wife will need a spousal visa for her to stay an extended period of time, a tourist visa won't do and won't let yout wife stay longer than a month or two.

If the child is yours, then you should get it a NZ passport, as she/he will be eligible for citizenship via descent.

Yes baby is mine and have looked at the citizen by decent forms but they have to be sent to New Zealand so that's going to take a bit longer to process.

The Tourist visa applicaton for NZ does ask if you will be applying for residency when in NZ and asks for information regarding the supporting NZ citizen, so it seems that you can go as a tourist and then apply for residency if you meet the criteria.

If you are certain that NZ allows switching visa categories from tourist to a more permanent status, then that is fine. I know a lot of countries don't though, and require that permanent visas are applied for offshore.

It takes only 2 days at the consular office in Chaeng Wattana road and 3 days at the offices at Central Bangna and Central Pinklao

The Thai passport agency was out-stationed at The Mall in Korat a couple of weeks ago. We applied for a passport for a 10 year old child. It was ready for pickup the same day. The had all the machinery, cameras, computers, etc. necessary to produce passports right there.
