Container Truck overturns on Highway 36

RAYONG:-- On Tuesday Afternoon at the notorious Highway 36, which leads to Rayong Province, Police and Rescue Services were called to the scene of a serious crash involving a container truck. The truck driver, Khun Santee aged 47 remained at the scene and was uninjured. He explained that he had come from the Maptaput Industrial Estate in Rayong and was on his way to the Laem Chabang Port. His truck was probably on slicks...seen many times...they would not be allowed to travel a single kilometer back home. Som na na....

What always amazes me is that why there are so many big accidents on a straight stroke of road here in Thailand.I passed this accident after it happened and there was not even a slight bend in the road hundreds of meters in the neighbourhood.Oh and by the way,it also had not rained for hours.

Bet it was sat on the end of a 40ft trailer, I see so many Trucks with the container sat on the back giving no traction or breaks. if they start to bounce because of the road condition, there will be a problem when trying to break.

A lot of the drivers get paid by the load, they drink large ammounts of Lipo, M150 etc. and stay awake for days on end to get as much loads moved as possible, particularly if there is a large container ship in port, but when the effects of the stimulant drink wears off - it can be instant!!, this would explain a lot of these "straight" road accidents!

You are a bit upside down there Thongkorn, The reason the container would be on the end of the trailer is to spread the load on the axles AND to keep the max load on the tyres under braking!

maybe some retard brake tested him, happens at least twice daily to me every morning heading to work, sometimes I struggle to avoid in my pickup, can only imagine it happening to me if I was driving a large fully laden truck.....it would be messy for sure.

EDIT: I just read the article, seems he was brake tested by a numpty in a D-max.

There was a danger of NGV gas tanks exploding. The local fire boys doused the area liberally with water.

So that's the threat removed then??!!
