I just bought a new Vios in Pattaya. The sales lady told me to use Gasohol 91. So far I have only refilled the car once with Gasoholl 91. Does anyone think it would be better to switch to Gasohol 95 octane. Is it alright to mix 91 with 95 without doing any damage to the engine. Does Gasohol 95 have any advantages over gasohol in a Vios? The few extra baht for Gasohol 95 are no problem, as long as readers think there are advantages to using it. Thanks for any replies and sorry for sounding a bit naive. The Vios booklet says both, G 91 and G 95 can be used in a Vios

they can be mixed, and this engine can run G 91. G 95 does not give any advantage to this engine, unless you experience spiking on very hot days while running G91. If so G95 higher octane will avoid engine spiking.

In LOS this engine is approved by Toyota to run E 20 (thus reducing excice tax on new car sales), which is 20% ethanol blended in petrol. Since its not approved for such fuel in any other country, I would not use it.

Thanks for this very useful advice :)

I've been using Gasohol 91 in my Vios for the last 2 years now. Never a problem with it but at times I have changed to Gasohol 95 (when G91 not available) I have noticed decreased mileage during the times when both were 'mixed' in the tank together.

Back to normal when a full tank of either though.

I agree. Check your owners manual and if it states the engine will run on gasohol 91, go for it.

Both 91 and 95 are 10% ethanol (Sp?) 95 is higher octane but if your car is not pinging (spiking, engine noise on acceleration) you are simply paying more money for essentially the same benefit.

blending G91 and G95 50/50 gives you G93, and its impossible to have decreased milage due to this blend.

My 2006 Yaris has the same engine as yours, and my experience with G95 (G91 not avilable here in Phuket) is cleaner emission than pure petrol. Throttle hard, high revs and run G95 and exhaust pipe is shiny inside :)

Thanks for all the replies. My manual says I can use G 91 or G 95 for the Vios. Inside the cover of the petrol filling point on the car it says G 91 as well. I will stay with G 91 after reading all the useful replies. G 91 is available in most petrol stations in Pattaya.
