Together We Can: Bangkok 2010 Cleaning Day

Featured Replies

Good. Very, very good. Congratulations to all the volunteers on doing an excellent job cleaning up the aftermath.

I was down there and the mood was quite joyous. A chance to something positive. Lots of people in matching outfits, like a team effort. Even schoolkids. Almost everybody had friends taking photos of them working.

Been there ... sending few pics. It was nicely spent afternoon with lots of free drinks and food (had lunch at Hayat Erawan) ... only con is sunburn neck :)

Yes very very good to see and great pics but a word to all the farangs that want to help make sure you have a volunteer work permit or you could be in trouble. Also It would be nive if the Government would anounce that foriegn people CAN help without having a work pemit but then again that would leave it to wide open for them in the future so I dont see it happening.

Some areas if a Thai ses you working with no work permit and figures you are taking a job away from a Thai where thay could be getting paid that could also lead to trouble.

I LOVE seeing these pics etc though and hope it will bring spirits up as I'm sure everyone needs that. Good luck to ALL the Thai's !!!!

Give it a break! Nobody is going to be arrested for working without a permit....

I was last year for volunteering so I wouldn't do it again.

Come on, the police were overjoyed that farangs were cleaning ... so they can sit in the shadow and watch :)

I think farangs should do a lot more volunteer work in Bangkok , maybe the city will look cleaner than before....

I was down around Big C for about 4 hours volunteering. There were plenty of police and military around, but no one cared that a farang was helping. I did not get hassled, but did receive a lot of thank-yous

I have been told that unless an election date is declared within the next month then there will be more trouble.
