Does anyone here have any recommendations for tailors in Pattaya?, I see so many here it is difficult to know which one to choose.

                  Thanks

Personally, I would avoid pretty much all of those tailor shops, unless you want to buy something already made and on the rack.

In the blocks surrounding the building I live in are scads and scads of Thai sewing shops. I see streams of turbaned Indians driving up to these shops, dropping off orders and pieces of clothing, or picking up finished items.

It appears to me that most of the "tailor shops" are just fronts. The real work is done in those scads of Thai shops, where the whole family works (including the little kiddies after school).

Wander around the area by the Day-Night 2 hotel (especially back by the parking garage area). Close to a couple of dozen sewing shops in that little area alone.

I would go to one of those shops to get something made before going to one of the tailor shops (especially those along # 2 Road, Beach Road or Walking Street).

Not sure what the prices are like, but I had a pair of cargo shorts that I wanted to have the zippers replaced on. Guy had to remove the 4 existing zippers and replace them with 4 new ones.

Not a lot of work I suppose, and it cost me 60 baht. I was quite happy with the work and the price.

I don't know if one is any better than the other, but I do recommend that you tell them that you are leaving 1 week before you actually are. This way you will have plenty of time for them to make corrections. They are famous for wanting to know when you leave so that the item you have made will not be ready until the night before you leave. This way the do not have to fix any problems you might have with the item.

oh I guess this pertains to the people who do not live in Thailand.

May I recommend Mr Will on Soi 6.

He is a Thai tailor so in effect you are cutting out the indian middlemen. I have used him a few times and the price and quality are good and further you dont get the usual sales bull that you often get with the indian tailors. ( if one more teenage muppet squakes aawite maate at me i will swing for him ) Mr Wills brother is a tourist police I think and there are plenty of amusements on soi six post or pre fitting.
