Fixed Ip Address & Satellite Internet

Featured Replies

hello,

I want to move to BKK, and I'll need a static IP adress for my internet connection. I saw a few posts on this forum, but all outdated so I'd like to know how the situation is now. Which providers can provide a fixed IP? At which cost?

The problem is... wherever I want to move, the internet connection is already set up, and set up for the whole building. It's hard to get the owners to do what it takes to upgrade the connection.

A solution is the Internet provided by satellite, which would be very convenient for me since I would be abble to move from a place to another without having to deal with the internet providers or places owners every time. Does anybody know who are the best or more popular satellite internet providers? Do they provide Static IP (if you don't know I can ask them myself)? Is it reliable?

I've spend a lot of time trying to find those providers myself.... but I'm getting a hard time finding them. So far I found TUT and Csloxinfo. I contacted them by email and am waiting for more information.

thanks for your help

JASNET provides a static IP on their BizConnext plan (SME oriented) on a TOT line. I used their 2Mb BizConnext package with static IP for about 13 months and it was rock solid service. Here's their BizConnext web link: http://www.jasnet.co.th/home/indexget.php?pid=122

The link only shows a 2Mb plan at 1890 Baht/month but they do have a BizConnext 3Mb plan at approx 2500 Baht and a 4Mb plan at approx 2800 Baht (I think the later two plan costs include the 7% VAT where the first plan don't). They have a 10 to 1 user/contention ratio and your international speed will be pretty close to the plans in-Thailand speed (ie., 2, 3, 4Mb). I think they only go up to 4Mb because many TOT lines are limited to 4Mb unless you happen to live in just the right areas (like within 1KM of the phone central office/station) and because TOT/central offices-stations still rely more heavily on ADSL versus ADSL2+.

Good luck.

What is your application? I mean why do you need a static IP. Maybe you can solve it with a dynamic DNS instead?
