Inmate-controlled drug ring shut down by Navy Narcotics Officers

RAYONG: --Early on Friday Morning we joined members of the Royal Thai Navy Narcotics Unit as they conducted one of their regular drug stings. On this occasion the investigation began with a random stop of a man who later failed a urine test. Khun Wiset aged 45, the owner of a Karaoke Bar in Rayong was interrogated and gave up the name of his drug supplier who was named as Khun Wimon aged 31 from Rayong Province. Officers set up a sting operation in nearby Rayong and lured the target to Khun Wiset’s Karaoke Bar.

The Navy Police seem to be very active not only in the drug suppression sector, with a lot of public success.

I wonder what they are doing (or not doing) different from the BIB? :)

I mentioned this to a friend of mine who is a long serving (career) Senior Officer of the Narcotics Control Board he didn't know anything about the RTN Narcotics Police and gave me a strange look when i brought it up.

I will probably be seeing him this evening i am going to ask him again. Not saying it is untrue, but I am just curious why the RTN would have dedicated narcotics Police Unit.
