Realistically speaking:

What are the chances to get a Swiss visa for a Thai lady -my partner for 4 years(-not married) -but stable longterm relationship -no bargirl stuff. I amGerman -we live in Thailand -well I for 6 month per year. We want to visit Switzerland as tourists.

I'm no expert on the Swiss visa process, but the usual issues are:

1. money (can you show that you are able to fully financially support her during her trip, or can she show that she has her own money - this means bank statements). You may also need to show evidence of where you'll be staying;

2. intention to return to Thailand (can she show that she intends to return to Thailand after the holiday - this means a letter from her employer or college, or some other evidence of intention to return home);

3. do you know her? (they may also want some evidence that you've known each other for a while, it's a relationship and you've not just picked her up in a bar - I'm not saying you did, by the way)

If you/she can do these three, you should be okay unless there's been some other problem, for example if another country has refused her a visa before.

One advantage of applying for a Swiss visa is the absence of big queues of hopefuls waiting outside: if you have to go to the British Embassy, which is directly opposite the Swiss, you look longingly across at the peaceful, quiet, unstressed Swiss Embassy entrance with just two or three people waiting, at most.

In other words .the usual stuff all the others want as well.

1) Money ---should be no problem ,if I put money in her account now --intended visit to Switzerland in approx a tear from now) add to it on occasion --we could have all our vacation money sitting there. But ill they care from where the money came --me -- not from a job??

2)I would want to not disclose to them MY finances -she should qualify on her own . We have a longterm -4 years plus -strong relationship . Solid couple ,she takes care of the house (we just build a new house together),no job ,no college --so how will she shoe intend to come back to Thailand ?

3)I can print out 4 years worth of e-mails ,will that help any?

Hi Mobaan,

I am sure that the length of your relationship will help your g/f, although if you were married it would be a lot easier for her to get a visa because of the EU/EEA/Swiss agreements.

If you live in Thailand with her, then this is a good indication that you, and by default, your g/f will leave Switzerland at the end of the holiday. Alternatively, get her a visit visa for Germany and, I believe, that can then be used to enter Switzerland.

Hi

As scouser believe it is fact.

As of August 1st, 2000, Thai citizens holding a valid Schengen-Visa are exempted from visa obligation if the purpose of travelling to Switzerland is tourism, visits for business contacts, medical treatment and rehabilitation, participation in certain events as well as temporary media coverage for foreign media for a period not exceeding 90 days.

Swiss Embassy Bangkok

But if your first entry is not switzerland she need a multiple entry Schengen visa.

Hope this helps.
