I got an offer on steel to a house but it is in kg not unit or meter.

Can anybody please help?

How many kg pr unit is;

DB 20 mm

DB 16 mm

DB 12 mm

RB 9 mm

RB 6 mm

What is the different on DB and RB?

One unit is 10 meter but how many kg?

'RB' is probably Round Bar. Weight of 9 mm dia is appr. 0.5 kg/m - dia 6 mm = 0.22 kg/m (dia divided by 2 times dia times 0.02466).

No idea what 'DB' stands for.

DB stands for Deformed Bars, used in reinforced concrete.

World steel prices are on the downswing, and so are other metals, due to a fall in demand from China. There is also a fear that China is dumping structural steel into the world market.

Standard lengths are 10m and 12m that can be loaded on to a 40ft trailer. Colour coding is to assist site inspectors in checking correct sizes of the rebar before approving concrete pours.

Would "Round Bars" be what is used to build a house? I would have thought, and think I have seen, rectangular and/or I-beam shaped steel used for vertical supports. Or, is "Round Bar" some sort of a colloquialism and they are not really round at all?
