Timeless Tunes

Featured Replies

Great idea for a thread OP..Kudos!!!

For mine, Don Maclean will probably only be known for "American Pie", which is a classic in itself..however i think the song "Vincent" is his very best work..

I doubt if future kiddies will be singing it whilest out on the lash but i'd like to think they could appreciate it anyway.

This clip live from BBC, i think the greatest version he ever did.

EDIT: Sorry, this old goat cant seem to workout how to enter the actual youtube clip into a post such as you others have done!

Good call anguid.

Love' em or hate 'em they are here to stay.

Here's another that is gonna stick around for a while.

*Edit*

That video show how much times have changed.

The audience are all sat down in a orderly fashion whereas if the same tune was sung now all and sundry would be stood on their seats, arms aloft, singing (screaming) at the top of their voices.

They are not even chair dancing.

Thanks tigerfish....take the weather with you......sums up the kiwis I've been fortunate to meet.:)

Not the version I'd have chosen for karaoke, the Burton/Springsteen guitar duel's a hard act to follow.

Just when I thought it was safe to assume you had an ear for good music. ^^^^^^^^^^^

The OP said 'timeless' but here you go....

pop quiz: when you think Proud Mary who comes to mind?

- Tina Turner

- John Fogerty and CCR

both are correct: a show piece for Tina (not puttin' her down, gotta love her) but a Fogerty masterpiece and one of the greatest popular songs of the late 20th century...no tellin' how many covers by thousands of performers...

You can never go past one of Australia's greatest musical legends.

Here he is................

The mighty Chad Morgan:

re: covers...lets talk about Louie, Louie...

a significant part of the repetoire of the band that I was in in 1963 and my son's name; a part of a great tradition...

(tutsi running next to the gurney as the ex was being wheeled out from the theatre at the Glasgow Rotten Row maternity hospital:)

'so we agree that it's Louie?'...

'yeah, just call him sumpin' irish fer the second name...'

'how's Fergal?...'

'yeah, sounds great, now get on widdit willye?...'

Wow............I would never have picked Chad as an Australian.

Our entertainers don't all look like the Minogue sisters you know.

Another Aussie legend.

All Australians ( and me ) get that third peg after looking at the Minogue sisters
