Hi there, can anyone advise me the dates of the school holiday in October for students of Scared Heart School in Chiangmai...thanks...

I don't know about "Scared Heart," but the schools I worked for didn't know the calendar for NEXT WEEK. Seriously, this is Thailand, the land of "I don't know." I seriously doubt there's more than a handful of schools in Thailand with an academic calendar for the entire school year, or that they follow it.

If Sacred Heart follows the public school calendar, almost all of October would be a holiday. No students. Some schools force the teachers to come in, anyway. My first year, I had the month off without pay.

I developed the habit of taking international flights when I needed to, without having any assurances from management that I'd be off. On 10 May this year, I asked if they needed me for the next week. Reply, "No, but please come in at the end of the month." My reply, "Oh no, I have flights outside of Thailand as of May 22, because you don't get me work permit. Costs me 100,000 baht. Good-bye; don't forget to deposit my salary into my bank account while I'm gone."
