Crime Man 59, Kills Woman After Argument Over Car Transfer in Phatthalung
Picture courtesy of Workpoint. A 59-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly bludgeoning a 52-year-old woman to death following a heated argument about the transfer of a car. The shocking incident occurred near a reservoir in Tamot District, Phatthalung Province. Emergency services were called to the Khao Hua Chang reservoir in Moo 2, Tamot sub-district, after reports of an assault. Upon arrival, rescue workers found the victim, Ms Malee, also known as “Kaya” , with severe injuries to her face and head. She was naked from the waist down. Despite being rushed first to Tamot Hospital and then to Phatthalung Hospital, she was later pronounced dead. A large, blood-stained stone believed to have been used in the attack was found at the scene. According to Ms Sutima, 42, a friend of the victim, the suspect, identified as Mr Mudtafa, or “Bangfa”, picked her and the victim up in a white Toyota Fortuner from their home in Kong Ra District. They were heading to discuss the transfer of a Toyota Yaris. Ms Sutima stated that when they reached Ban Khwannui in Tamot, she got out of the vehicle to visit a relative. Bangfa and Kaya then drove off together. Some time later, Bangfa returned alone and attempted to persuade Ms Sutima to rejoin him. She noticed blood stains on the side of the car and refused, shouting to alert locals. Bangfa quickly drove away. Alarmed, Ms Sutima, along with local residents and the village headman, went to search for Kaya. They found her seriously injured, with emergency responders, on the embankment of the reservoir. An eyewitness, Ms Janya, 43, told police she had seen a man near the reservoir appearing to dig or strike something. As she approached on her motorcycle, she noticed his face was covered in blood. Disturbed, she alerted her husband and the couple returned to the site to find the victim barely alive and severely injured. They immediately contacted emergency services. Police later arrested Bangfa as he attempted to flee to his home in Khlong Chaloem sub-district, Kong Ra District. During interrogation at Tamot Police Station, he admitted to the assault, claiming he had been in a relationship with Kaya for 20 years and that they had a child together, despite never officially marrying due to him having a legal wife. He claimed the pair had often argued, mainly due to jealousy, as Kaya had several male admirers. He said the fatal dispute occurred over an unresolved debt of 50,000 baht relating to the vehicle transfer. He alleged that Kaya bit his finger during the row and fled from the car, prompting him to follow and hit her in a fit of rage. He said he never intended to kill her and deeply regretted his actions. His wife, Mrs So, 56, who visited him at the police station, said she was shocked by the incident. She acknowledged her husband had once had an affair with Kaya and fathered a child with her, but she believed the relationship had ended nearly a decade ago. She also revealed that her husband, a lorry driver, had been suffering from mental health issues and depression over the past two months and had stopped working. Police say they are not yet convinced by Bangfa’s version of events, noting inconsistencies in his account. The victim’s partially unclothed state has raised suspicions that there may have been an attempted sexual assault prior to the murder. Investigations are ongoing. The Crime Suppression Division (CSD) launched coordinated raids on seven locations in Songkhla province on 20 May, arresting two additional suspects linked to a violent mob attack on a border patrol officer earlier this month. The incident, allegedly orchestrated by local political figure Siradon Phlaiduang, known as “Sor. Golf”, continues to draw national attention. Under orders from Pol. Col. Anake Taosuphab, deputy commander of the CSD, and Pol. Col. Anusorn Thongsai, acting commander of Subdivision 6, officers searched properties across Mueang district. The operation aimed to dismantle the network of influence associated with Sor. Golf, a notorious figure accused of ordering his subordinates to assault a police officer on duty. The initial attack occurred as Pol. Sgt. Nisatit Kongthep, a border patrol officer, was providing security at a local election polling station in Phawong subdistrict. He was brutally assaulted by a group allegedly acting under Sor. Golf’s direction. The two newly arrested suspects, Mr. Faisol 27 and Mr. Ananop 37, were apprehended on court warrants issued on 19 May. Both face charges of premeditated assault on a law enforcement officer, armed resistance to authorities, and participating in a criminal gang. Officers also recovered clothing worn during the attack and mobile phones. Faisol was arrested near Phawong subdistrict, while Ananop was taken into custody outside his residence in Khao Rup Chang subdistrict, both within Mueang Songkhla. Pol. Col. Anake stated that investigations revealed the two men were present during the assault, acting as lookouts while other members of the group attacked the officer. Evidence includes witness testimonies and CCTV footage from the vicinity. Both suspects partially admitted to being present at the scene and travelling with the group but denied direct involvement in the physical attack. They have been transferred to Subdivision 6 investigators for further legal proceedings. Meanwhile, the CSD is coordinating the transfer of Sor. Golf and seven earlier-arrested associates from Songkhla Provincial Prison to the Bangkok Remand Prison. The transfer is expected to be completed within a week and is aimed at streamlining the ongoing legal process. The case continues to highlight issues of political influence and organised violence in southern Thailand, as authorities widen their investigation into the extent of Sor. Golf’s criminal operations. The worst thing I see on Thai roads
This was happening before you arrived, it's a good system It works if the motorbike is paying attention. The motorbike sees the oncoming car and pulls over to the left. It's not just on busy roads, soi Buakhou, baht buses are always stopped, only way for traffic to flow is overtake, I'm always pulling over for oncoming vehicles.
