If you go to one of the large expat oriented hospitals such as BNH, Bumrungrad etc, I expect you would be treated within minutes of entry. I have often just turned up at BNH, St.Louis and been seen straight away (not for casualty though). I think these hospitals are crying out for patients these days.

Guess your aware that there are many small 'clinics' across Bangkok where the 'doctor' is not qualified and the other staff on premises are not trained / have no medical knowledge.

Yes the medical council and yes the health minitry know they exist (they have existed for decades) and yes they do nothing about it.

Go to a hospital, better chance your in the hands of properly trained staff.

You could add Phya Thai 1 and Phya Thai 2 to the list, both a little less expensive than BNH and Bumrumgrad.

At the new year 2009 I was at the Thai visa party after that I headed to Santika. In all the commotion and panic I fell and cut my hand open on a broken Johnnie Walker bottle when exiting the club. I was taken to Ramathibodi hospital. I think they x-rayed and stitched up in less than 30 minutes.

Also, last year I fell into a sewer pipe which was open (since then I've started to look were I put my steps). I hit my shinbones quite good. Well I came up form the pipe with feces and sewer water up to my knees. I never forget the looks I got from people when I walking looking for a taxi back home. Anyway, I went to the local "nurse place" in my soi. They said a firm "No, we don't do stitches". So I went to Samitivej Hospital. It was a quick process over there as well. I think I paid 1200 Baht for 8 stitches, cleaning and medication.

The wound is too old, you can't stitch a wound that old the possibility of infection too great and dangerous, but get medical attention anyway and they'll advise you accordingly... Avoid the ques and go later at night about 10:00 or 11:00 in and out which is what I always do except on the weekends...

Are you serious. I heard pharmacy will sell you drugs that require prescriptions. and if the bib catch you. you will get done but the person you bought them off. nothing not even made aware of selling prescription drugs without a prescription to someone that has been nabbed. One more thing learned today.

Well if you're going to self medicate then you should soak it 2 or 3 times per day in hot saline water as hot as you can stand and some of the Betadine (I assume that's what you bought) dry it well and then dress it with a topical antibiotic cream or salve. I would also consider getting a systemic antibiotic such as Amoxicillin if you're not allergic as it may already be infected which maybe contributing to it not healing... Hope it heals well for you, good luck..
