True Plans To Introduce Dozens Of Hdtv Channels This Year

Featured Replies

I was JOKING, James!!!!!

I wasn't John:

Look at the current offerings:

DIVA Channel (Hallmark Network gone Hi-So)

Trav Channel (footage of hot tourist sites from the 80s)

E-Something (3 women talking about something so important they don't stop for break all day)...

Even the History Channel is no longer about History - it's a dumbdowned version of Discovery - National Geo

However, my 1.8 year old son is loving it - 16 children's channels + 8 music channels showing the same triangle dancing girl/boy bands

Chic Channel - thankfully for old folks like us, we no longer have to wait until midnight to get turned-on - just mute the volume at 7pm and get WOWED.

True Sports 5 - nothing but ads to get you to subscribe to something you already have I guess.

Can't argue with all of the above James... certainly not...

I WAS joking....but...in truth.... re-runs of MASH would be a big improvement over most of what's out there.... The Jeffersons..... ehhh.... not so sure.

By the way True UBC sufferers, you can lower your bill if you complain.

I have Gold + HD + 1 extra (standard) receiver and felt the whole thing was a total rip-off. I didn't pay for a while, and then somebody called me asking me to pay my bill. I said, yeah sure I will pay but I'll also cancel as soon as my 6 months is up - too expensive (over 2,100 baht / month).

The next day True called me to tell me they'd signed me up for some "promotion" and I'd only pay ~1,600 Baht from now on. IMO as it should be, that's the standard, already-expensive Gold package price, and HD and the extra receiver are free.

Edit: Still compared to the infinitely more useful 8Mbit internet connection for 800 baht, 1,600 is too much... if it weren't for the wife, I'd have cancelled anyway.

Nikster, you make me feel so much better... It's always good to know that you can buy cr@p and feel better about it, knowing that you're getting cr@p at a discount...

Actually, seriously, I was thinking about this the other day... I pay about 1200 a month for True TV, Silver package and two outlets... And I was thinking, what do I get out of it?

1. Well, I keep my wife happy, but 95% of the time, she's just watching over the air Thai basic channels, that we could get even without True...

2. They make it easier for me to watch NFL American football on ASN, which I couldn't get at home thru any other means (though I more and more pay to watch the NFL online via streaming)... If I watch True, that's it about 95% of the time.

3. The other 5 percent for me is sometimes listening to the Luk Thung channel for morlam music videos, which are nice to have on in the background.

Other than that, that's about it.. Wonder if it's really worth the 1200 baht a month for us?

Hmmm... Ohhhh.. I forgot, there's also the Tuesday late night ladyboy singing competitions on a Channel 3 talk/variety show...

OK, well, maybe my 1200 baht is being well spent...

Well the OP was last July. Has anyone heard any more on the rollout of these new HD channels for TruVisions?

I've also been looking at Astro for subsciption, but note that JSat only services greater Bangkok and Patts. Does anyone know of any companies that do satellite installations in Phuket and can arrange Astro?

^Please delete reference to the second part of my post (I've started a new thread in the Phuket forum).
