I wonder if anyone has any experience spray painting ordinary acrylic on to walls, I have around 1000 meters of garden wall to paint and it has to be easier to spray it rather than roll or brush it. We have a 3HP Puma compressor and various spray guns including the very big gun that is used for textured finish. I've done searches but all I come up with is the airless spray system.

Thanks Trogers, three very useful links, covers most of what I need to know.

Simple eh? I never thought of searching for compressed paint spray. Now all I got to do is experiment to find the right thinning mixture. :)

Hi Rimmer,

Be exceptional aware of keeping the paint gun 6-8 inches(or whatever the paint requires)away from the panel. if you arc the gun(called banding) the paint is strong in the middle & a piss coat on the ends. the other concern is to shoot it at the proper pressure. You will know by the amount of over spray everywhere. While it is super critical in painting cars trucks boats & Jets & motorcycles you have a controlled environment & the paint is ultra expensive & you hate to waste any & the job suffers as well. Outside is difficult to shoot if there is any wind present. I have been a painter for 35 years or so on everything including a contract for united airlines in San Francisco. As well as many huge anti Graffitti paint surface jobs when I lived in the city. If your perimeter fence has gaps in it be aware you will be wasting quite a large amount of paint .

Try to ease up on the trigger when hitting the ends of the paint run & fan the paint(fade it back on to full) when restarting the next portion of paint. On house paint usually you can best achieve a good paint job by following their mixing directions. Sometimes (if in high wind) you have to mix it with less thinner or just enough to get it to atomize out of the gun well. And the pressure of the air is critical as well. too much may mean 30% loss or more on paint wafting in the wind or running like a curtain. At least painting walls & houses are far less critical than autos & other vehicles! on slotted areas you may be best to roll the paint & flash the sprayed paint into the rolled paint to get a good blend.

And do not forget the primer. Cleanliness is your number one asset, it pays to be anal in that dept. The top painters either are the best

prep men or women or have some kick ass apprentices or prep team in front of their work. Good luck!

Hi,

Good to find spray painting experts here !

Do you know if spray painting is the way to go to paint built in wooden furniture in a condo ?

I know that this is possible and i guess that this is the best and only way to get a professional results as if furniture were coming from the factory, but who could do that for me ?

Is it really specific to paint wood or could i ask a garage used to spray paint cars to send a guy to paint my furniture at home ?!

I've searched everywhere around Bkk and Pattaya and the only place where i have found furniture spray painted is at Homeworks Pattaya but they do it only at the shop and furniture are too heavy to carry. If i could rend a compressor somewhere can i try to do it myself ?

Any idea ?

Thanks for help !

The finish would come out 100+% better.

If you do try practice on some wood to put a finish on it. I think I would use less pressure till I got the hang of it(when you get no hookers -curtains "Runs" If to dry if you use lacquer, you could re-sand with a 400 grit wet & dry paper. You are better of with a wet & dry sandpaper with a little bit of water & instead of your paper Loading up on you the wet & dry you use 1/10th of the cost of paper. The clear coat is unfortunately the toughest part about painting.

You know Technocrazy has a post guess what wood Somchai is butchering up (or something like that. An older post a year ago. & he does some of the most beautiful Guitars-wood decks & other wood items. He is the foremost wood craftsman I have seen posting. Maybe if you PM him he can give you some directions from the GURU.

Rimmer I have used in the UK something called a gravity feed hopper and compressor, you dont have to thin the paint at all its very thick masonry paint i use it on roughcast walls its saves a huge amount of time. I know this is an old thread just passing on what I know
