Headline reads... Aid ship stormed by FarangCravings.

I didn't realize Farangcravings did such things.

I didn't realise some people didn't realise what this sub-forum was for?

It is the way the topic was asked.

The heading reads... "Aid ship stormed"

Under that it says the name of whomever replies so it reads "Aid ship stormed by Farangcravings" or whomever else replies to the topic. I just thought that was slightly amusing. Sorry if a few folks missed it.

Its begging for a new topic entitled 'Ian Forbes bends over for'

I'm sure it would be a hit on the :Ladies forum.......or.....um....:D

It would appear that 80% of women on Samui are involved in the bar scene, allegedly.

A suitably ambiguous statement, depending on the terms of reference, however, anyone tending bar and being called a 'bar girl', are wholly separate entities, its being able to understand the difference and the realties of others experience, now that is a clincher.

Not that I, in anyway dispute it, but would love to see a link regarding the 80% thingy.

And there in lies the rub, Mossfin. When tourist centers like Samui or Hua Hin are mostly made up by bars then it stands to reason that the staff (mostly women) would be considered part of the bar scene. That does NOT mean that all women in those hotels and bars are hookers... even though some male tourists seem to think so. I've seen far too many boorish male tourists who act like ALL Thai women are for sale. Tourst centers are where the money is, and that attracts everyone.

I'm not buying it Ian

You claim to be a professional writer, which would suggest that you are rather good at expressing yourself. Yet you often seem vague and now you have just contradicted yourself.

(I don't know what else to add)

From memory Ian and forgive if I am wrong, did you not state that 80% of women were part of the bar scene?

So are they part of the scene, or just considered part of it by boorish males, or are they just working in the busy areas because that is where the work is?

I was just going by personal observation when staying in Koh Samui for a week and traveling around by rented motorbike. I lump the bar scene and the tourist night life into the same bracket. That includes hotels with a bar or restaurant. The staff are mostly women. Some are available to the right person but many aren't. I wasn't just identifying bars with obvious hookers. Hooker bars tend to stay in specific areas, but, that doesn't mean there isn't an overflow into other areas. Most of my steady ladies that I consider to be friends were, or are, working in various restaurants and cafes. That doesn't mean they don't have extra-curicular activities. But, I also have friends who DO work or own hooker bars. I don't look down on anyone for what they do. It's how well they treat me that counts.

To me, it's no different than a great big house party where everyone is having a good time.

And, to answer Moonrakers reply...

I haven't contradicted myself at all. It's just your assumption of what I meant. People make false assumptions all the time. Obviously, you consider the bar scene to mean "hooker" bars. I don't. I would NOT consider the various Hash House bar/cafes scattered around Thailand to be hooker bars, but if someone connected with one of the many waitresses working there it's quite likely the gal would expect some renumeration for her time... or not, depending on the man.

He is coming to Koh Samui which is a known tourist center where 80% of the women working or living there are involved in the bar scene in some capacity or another.

Ian's previous quote.

I guess Rakers isn't on his own about assumptions I guess, the 'bar scene' particularly in the context quoted would generally mean the 'P4P' scene.

I am sorry we missed your general context and meant the 'bar scene' to include waitresses who serve you coffee with a smile.

And we DO know what happens when a cute Thai lady smiles at an inexperienced farang. It can be a VERY expensive smile.

It's for a couple of Americans to post anti Obama rants, isn't it?

Yah, they DO get annoying don't they. Getting Obama as president is a direct result of having voted for that idiot Bush. People tend to over react after having a bad leader who put the world into chaos... and for two terms at that. Lord help the world after Americans make their NEXT choice.

Good to know you can still smile after lavishing 'Pareto's Rule' on 80% of the female inhabitants of Samui.

Hopefully after the next election the Lord is the only one who will might be willing to help. :)

The Lord was Bush's ally and adviser, wasn't He?

OK, OK Guys, lets not go there.

I suggest we divert it or it will go down the same old route, waddaya say?

Ian, you and I both know it doesn't have to be an inexperienced guy, I have seen veterans of many campaigns go weak at the knee because of a round eyed, oval faced young lady.

Or so he said. It always amazed me how many aggressors entering into battle with each other both prayed to the same, so called, God for protection and help in a war. How could God decide on who to help when both adversaries want to kill each other and break all commandments?.

Most of us have our weaknesses, or Achilles heal, where we are tempted by something that we should know better. For some people it is food, for others it is drink, and for others it is money or pretty skirt.
