How To Choose An Air Purifier

Featured Replies

I'm in air con 20 hours a day at least. My apartment window opens about 6 inches. I've been getting sick with sinus and throat problems a lot recently. So I thought an Air Purifier in my room would make sense. Went to Home Pro yesterday and there are models ranging from a few thousand Baht to 25,000 Baht. Some offer humidity options and others work via 'plasma'. I realized I had no idea what to look for. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

I started looking at the same thing a while ago....also at home pro.

My advice is save money, fly to singapore of HK where these thing sell for much cheaper, I suspect.....

Check the material after 1 week and you will see what i mean. When they turn black, and they will, put in sink with clothes detergent and wash by hand (take out of machine first) and recoil in horror at how black the water becomes. Let dry and replace. This is your best option.

Wow. I had no idea those 3M filters were washable and reusable.

Mine never get black, just lots of grey stuff. Possibly you live near a road/highway where exhaust and rubber bits invade your home?

Nope, Chiang Mai during the burning season. It gets really bad, even with the windows shut all the time. I would imagine they are not as dark now, have not checked them for a while. I use them a bunch of times till I feel they are a bit worn.

Thanks for sharing! That's very useful to know.

I have a good opportunity to give it a try. I'm having my aircon units serviced and cleaned tomorrow. I'll remove the Filtrete filters like I always do when the guys come, but this time, rather than throwing them out, I'll give them a little bath!
