Hi everyone! :-)

The Conquery plug-ins for FireFox are great, but if any of you are Mac users and prefer to use Safari, you might be interested in what looks to be a really good plug-in that offers similar functions for Safari.

It's called "AcidSearch", and you can read about it at http://www.pozytron.com/acidsearch

Installation is really easy. I was also able to set up search "channels" for thai2english.com and thai-language.com in a few seconds, and it seems to work great. I haven't noticed any problems yet. You can run the search from the search box in the Safari toolbar, or by selecting a word on a web page and right-clicking (or control-clicking, if you don't have a multi-button mouse).

In my own humble opinion, it's well worth a look. I hope it is of some help to other Mac users.

PS: there's another one, called Inquisitor, but it didn't look to have the same feature set as AcidSearch. Inquisitor, for example, it doesn't have a contextual menu option (maybe one day!), and the documentation isn't as good. But if anyone wants to check it out as well, you can find it at http://www.inquisitorx.com/

Hi everyone

When I mentioned that Mac users might like to use an extension for Safari called "AcidSearch" (see my post above), I forgot to mention one of the absolutely coolest things that is possible with it.

You see, if you use AcidSearch to set Safari's default search engine to an online dictionary like "Thai2English", you can quickly look up words from within any other program that uses Mac OS Services ... such as word-processors like Pages, TextEdit, Mellel, Nisus Writer and the like (unfortunately, though of course somewhat predictably, this doesn't include Microsoft Word). Depending on what other programs you use, it might also include things like your mail client (Mail, for example) or any other program that is service-aware.

All you need to do is select a word, and then choose "Search with Google" from either the Services menu or with some programs the right-click (or control-click) contextual menu. It works because the service "Search with Google" really means nothing more than "Search with the Engine that Safari uses for Searches" ... which is now changed to something like Thai2English.com

For those Mac users among you who might be interested, why not go back to my earlier post, download and install AcidSearch, and try this process for yourselves. Like me, you might find it an extremely useful technique! :-)
