Hi

I'm interested in buying a condo in Bangkok. I have been working in Bangkok for 5 years. I'm wondering whether I'd still have to send the full sum of money from my home country to buy the condo or is it possbile for me to get financing thru a Thai bank here. So far I've bought a car in Bangkok thru financing by a local Bank. Whereas in my home country I'm not sure if I still have any credit as I've not been "working" there for many years.

If you want the condo title deed (chanote) in your foreign name then the money must have been brought into Thailand from a foreign source. There are very limited exceptions to this rule. Bank financing is rather restricted by this rule.

As the value declared to the Land Office is usually less than the actual sum that you pay then you can get away with only transferring in the lesser value and presenting the FETF to the Land Office and make up the remaining balance with funds already in country.
