20% sounds like a big increase, but I dont think K-Speed are an outfit that would sour their reputation with false promises on their services.

Also having clocked up close to 3000km on the 250 already, I can say that adding close to 20% acceleration would make this thing an absolute little animal of a thing.

Acceleration 0-165kph.

!

I am amazed that we still don't have either a good grasp of what the real world top speed of the CBR 250 is, or any examples of a drag between the Ninja and the CBR.

What the heck are you new CBR owners doing with your bikes, hauling them on trailers?

So top speed seems confirmed. Ninja vs CBR not seems easy to compared as Tony mentioned already most of the Ninjas here are modified so it will be hard to get a stock Ninja and CBR head on head. Anyway there is a big thread on cbr250thai about this if u can read thai http://www.cbr250thai.com/bbs/read.php?tid=745&fpage=2&page=1.

And i seen a picture of that cbr250 racing series where a Ninja of Pannada Racing raced with them but i dont know about any details.....

Not so hard to find stock Ninja or Cbr250's. Just rent them from Pattaya. And CMX the bikes do use the same brand and model of tyre, so no problem. then just get 2 different weight people riding (similar experience. eg beginner) then IF they go to the track then the same (experienced) rider to put them around the track (someone that knows the limitations of the stock tyres)

Couple of months back I saw a run off between the new Mustang and new Camero. Both cars totally stock, with same size engines. Mustang got the jump off the line, out maneuvered through the curves, and pulled away on the straights. Then the drivers switched cars to see if it was the car or the driver. Results? Same as the first time they ran. I have a feeling that soon some bike mag will run the same kind of head to head test between the CBR and Ninja, as you know everyone is wanting it.

Also, for those obsessed with speed, if the video showing a STOCK CBR 250 doing 180, then with just a few minor mods, it would definitely take a stock Ninja. But, once you start making modifications, all "real" comparisons go out the window, so it would have to be stock vs stock, with drivers of the same or similar experience. And do like they did with the Mustang vs Camero. Run and then switch drivers to see if the results are the same.

I almost forgot about the most important test of the quality of the bikes, respectively: stopping speeds.

Even though Honda don't make an issue of it, as soon as the ABS model has come into possession of an enthusiast or magazine, we can hope for comparisons directly related to life, injury, and death.

Agree that professional or near professional drivers must compete.

Then we might hear a legitimate brag, "My bike with me riding stops faster than yours."

you have a nice family hili! congrats!

cbr250 is too stock - i think for now - but such a nice cbr150.

my idea is also removing the fairing but redesigning the original headlights therefore changing it to a naked for soi and short distance riding - i cannot leave her. Tried, looks nice especially with gold upside down forks and pro-arm.

Lemme' guess... D-Tracker/KLX head?

100 points, you won a rice cooker.

Koso guage and convincingly fake Pazzo levers? :)

(Already have a rice cooker but the maid could use a new iron!)

Ride on!

Turned 2000km today. 1500km since I got back a week ago. 300km yesterday and 400 more today.

Mirror fell off yesterday. Honda tool kit didn't have the small Allen key needed.

Hit 156 on Superhighway yesterday.

===

I've been riding all the mountain places I used to go on my 150.

Suthep and up to the lookout past Doi Pui. (After the turnoff, the whole road is brand new asphalt and barely half width. It's a hoot!)

Ma Sa Valley - (I've been doing it both ways these days)and Samoeng with the 50 km 'narrow road' loop behind (has 1.6 km dirt road). Mae Pa, I think

I like going to Phrao and through to Chiang Dao, and now I've found the more northerly way out of Phrao. That's where I did most of my 400km today (hwy 1346 - great!)

===

Can really approach acceleration and cornering in a much different way than the 150. It's allowing me to ride more technically - 'seeing through the arc' and really using the power of the bike to guide it.

Real confidence of how the wheels engage the road too. I'm not watching for every little rut or bump. Can feel the road really well. Great balance.

Way less shifting too. Only a single down-shift before a corner (good engine breaking etc). And it is such a treat to just give it gas and just pull through right through.

I did love my fast CBR150 - it could zip up anywhere and always had power (I had it reasonably built up). If you wanted or needed to accelerate fast, it was always one or two down-shifts and "praaaoooow" - away you go. The bike demanded that it be ridden that way. No choice! Attack hard, or watch the backs of scooters. (I assume the Ninja is like this. If you aren't punching it all the time, you are just limping along).

It's nice to be able to just climb a dang hill without making a scene!

Torque, my friends. Torque...

Even usable torque starting at 3k can pull up pretty quickly. Riding at 7-8k this bike is a monster!

On the highways, I bomb along between cars just like the CBR150. 120km/hr seems to pass more things on this bike than on the old one. Probably a more accurate speedo. Anything over about 135/140 is not so comfortable anyways. A different wind screen may make a big difference.

In the city it feels like my old 150. The mirrors are a little wider - but the bike isn't! Usually make my way up to the lights - even in tight traffic.

30-31km/liter always.

Absolutely love the kick stand. Sure.

I agree completely.

The old 150 is said to be 10% optimistic, I read the new 250 is 3-4%.

Anything over about 135/140 is not so comfortable anyways. A different wind screen may make a big difference.

I felt the same on my first two highway rides, and wanted to get a touring windscreen. My next one I didn't even feel it at 145kph... so gather that it was down to different wind, and I also had very tight jacket on the third time.

Was a massive difference anyway.

Yup, think mine is always about 32.

Reports on a Thai site that some shops have the ABS model delivered, and they were able to test them in the shop carpark.

I would expect that when they do arrive they won't actually be available to buy for a week or two.

In India the guys are saying they'll (basic and ABS) be delivered to the shop in mid-March but will have to wait a whole month before being able to pick them up due to display purposes. blink.gif

anyone now if they will be different colours, because i like the bike

just not the colours.

Same I'm afraid. I was lucky and got the only colour that I like... the black and silver.

Will however be painting the silver and rims black too... so all black with perhaps red rim tape.

At the moment NO, same colours. But resprays are cheap here or get a vinyl bike wrap.

Any one want a Burberry bike like the Merc in the picture.
