But then i have been known to have a rather dodgy musical appreciation - what with Simply Red to ACDC on to the most recent being Guns.

But - this guy ticks all the boxes. Good look, nice voice, and sings the songs from sad ones to the boppy ones, wonderfully.

With a great sense of humour.

Yo Patsy what's that song again where in the clip there is a bunch of sexy girls dressed up in black leathers and vinyl and stuff and they crawl on the ground and all over eachother?

:w00t:

Have to agree with you there Patsy, and throw in Robbie Williams as well (though he's not quite as good vocally).

My god...am I turning into a teeny bopper ?

Patsy,

I thought he was a public toilet poofter?

That's one box that shouldn't be ticked by anyone.

Ticks all the boxes:

Criminal record, April, 1998, arrested for "engaging in a lewd act" in a public toilet in Beverley Hills and given community service. February, 2006, arrested for possession of Class C drugs. May, 2006, allegedly found slumped at the wheel of his car at traffic lights in London. Later questioned by police following apparent collision with three cars. October, 2006, cautioned for possession of cannabis after being found unconscious and blocking traffic in London. May 2007, escapes prison sentence and gets community service and two-year driving ban after admitting driving while unfit through drugs.

Recently caught again with drugs.

(edit: sorry humph didn't see your post above!)

Who cares if he smokes a bit of dope, and drove into a skanky shop front and made a tiny little dent in their sign.

Who cares if he's gay. He was told by his managers and PR guys for years to not admit to being gay. At least they didn't marry him off, like poor old Rock Hudson, to a woman.

I just like his music and always have. Robbie Williams too, Simply Red too. Michael Bublé too. Just laid back music, with nice lyrics.

Obviously, talent challenged.

Needs to get high to perform.

Just normal for any pop entertainer these days.

Nice song Patsy, did not know this one. Makes me imagine cruising in my Bimmer along the beach strip in Miami.

I know I am a weirdo....

I saw George Michael on the BBC when he performed on a tribute show for Freddie Mercury and he did 'Somebody to love' (see link below)...full chorus and wonderful...quite a spectacle, the choristers were into it 100%...it could have been Aretha fronting The Edwin Hawkins Singers...very impressive...

the song has a significance as it marked my return to LA from the NW in 1976 having failed at being a logger...I was too middle class and couldn't take the harsh life...after 2 1/2 years in the woods...

haveta admit that when I saw his 'Wake me up before ye go go' video I made him for a fruit with his go go boy gyrations and reckoned that he would never succeed in 'muscular' popular music...

I was wrong...and he earned his street cred with getting busted in a public toilet for 'lewd behavior' and other drug related stuff afterwards...

right on George...you rock:thumbsup:

also, check out lead guitarist Brian May, who recently completed his PhD in astrophysics...I know the math involved with that stuff...smart dude...

Just because he hangs out in men's public toilets doesn't detract from his music. However, I always found his songs a little gay. Not that I have anything against gays, but I always considered his music more for women.

Get outta here. Men don't always have to listen to AC/DC, Led Zep and Linnard fekkin Skinnard you know.

And yes, I like GM, I have most of his albums.

I'm a man ( honest, although I did pretend to be a welsh one legged black lesbian in another thread ) and I think young George is a very talented young man.

lookin' at that clip I posted above I'm reminded of Leni Riefenstal's Triumph of the Will...the concert was at Wembly, I believe, a venue that could be compared to the Nuremberg event in her film...designed to rouse the masses...

not makin' a judgment...just an observation...I was certainly roused as the song is an anthem...and still one of my favorites....

btw, when Philip French retires I'm taking over as principal film reviewer at the Observer...no further offers of employment will now be considered....

I think the public toilet thing was a publicity stunt. This was released not long after:

Having spent a lot of time in public toilets ( prostate not what it was ) I have to agree. Never seen GM in any of the ones I've been in.................. ( I always look, being a fan an all )
