The 80's sticks out in my mind as the worst decade for music in my lifetime.

Your honor, the prosecution rests.

Smile smile and have a good guffaw.

do you really, in your lovely brain, think that we actually like the videos that we have posted?

It takes us back to the younger years and that's what counts.

I wasn't born in the USA.

But, Bruce defiintely (spelling) WAS

In 1985

I like his thighs.

Hey, I like that one. It's all in fun, and in that spirit:

And from the Micheal Mann movie:

Isn't it funny how certain songs can take you back to a place and time or date?

Listening to some of the songs on this thread make me feel 20 yrs old again. Admitting to knowing all the lyrics is another thing...

But, I (with most of the songs) have a full time vision of each song. where i was, with whom etc. Even going back 20 years.

Ask me about quantem anything - bugger off.

When JFK was shot :

I was working backstage at a strip club in Soho (London)

Couldn't believe it, but the girls were all in tears and it was damned difficult to keep the show going. Then all the punters were leaving, no one in the streets, so we closed for the day

Great thread.....some of the tunes take me back to single figures. Dunno why I started whisling this but here you go....

To be honest the 80's was a confusing time for me musically. Small town Scotland wasn't the best place to develop a taste for good music.

Especially with my old man being a Phil Collins fanatic and me dear old mum having a crush on Paul McCartney. Yeah that frog song arrived like a jack in the box each Christmas. Lucky I had my drum kit handy wasn't it? :D

It started off for me with the birdie song complete with a whole class of seven year olds doing the routine.....cringing even then....

Then maybe '83 was a good year for pop stuff but I was lucky enough to have discovered Electronic music by then and bought myself a keyboard with the tattie picking cash. Never much good at howver loved listening to New Order Cars Eurythmics etc.....

Late nights with the radio and headphones...Annie Nightingale....Moodswings....even Jimmy Sommerville <deleted>.

Then of course came the Stone Roses and by then I was planning my escape from a life spent smelling of fish.

Ended the '80s in London at a party off my tits near Borough High St......wasting the last embers of my first student grant and loving life!

Then there's the '90s a whole new ball game......

.... bought myself a keyboard with the tattie picking cash.

Then of course came the Stone Roses and by then I was planning my escape from a life spent smelling of fish.

So the decline of the great British fish 'n chips is down to you - quitting God's country.

Get back up there and stop all that white pudding being sent South !!

It was OK when I was based at Leuchars, but anywhere Sarf of Dundee don't deserve it.

Should have nipped up to Arbroath mate.....best fish and chips on the mainland. Maybe even landed by myself back in the day. ;)

White pudding is a real local delicacy....better than faggots though in my opinion. I remember back in '85 Maggie introduced a tax on fast food...put the price of my chips up from 25p to 35p. I was not amused.

During the summer up in Leuchars I was doing some bike racing - so used to ride West to Perth (first road bridge) then back through Dundee, along the coast through Broughty Ferry, Carnoustie and up to Arbroath. Then back again.

Good muscle loosener, but not much time to stop in Arbroath.

Used to do a bit of swimming too, but the North Sea isn't very pleasant on most days - too dam_n cold! RAF Leuchars had access to beaches just beyond St Andrews, other side of a river mouth - very private, good place to teach the WAAFs to swim.

cold, bleak, monday mornings in the height of winter dreaming of the day when i would leave the shores of the u.k. for warmer climbs.

A huge thank you from mefor this thread. :D

Unlike LRB, for me, I thought the 80's was a great decade for music.

Hairs on the back of my neck thinking about going to see Teardrop Explodes, Queen, Haircut 100, Joan Jet, Howard Jones, ABC, Flock of Seagulls, Lemonheads, Alison Moyet, Spandeau Ballet etc, etc
