Forgetful Drunk? Don't Forget To Pay The Bill!

I rang up a tab of 30,000 baht my first night in the FLB bar. I was pretty hammered, but every time I rang the bell, or just ordered another drink, I would check the new "bin" (not to see if it was padded, just to make sure I was going to be able to cover it at the end of the night).

Never hassled by the mamsans or manager to pay the tab earlier (before it got too large). At the end of the night (I came prepared), I thunked the money on the table (including a large tip). They brought back the change (including the "extra" I had included as a tip !)

I had to explain that I had put the extra money on the tray as a tip. They thought I was over-paying the bill (very honest of them actually).

As mentioned, this was my first time in that bar, though I had arranged a party the night before (paid in advance) that I didn't show up for :o

Of course, it is not advisable to wander around town with 20,000 baht or more in your pocket, especially when drinking. But you should be prepared to have to pay more than you may have budgeted (many times I've gone for "a" drink, and ended up having 3 or 4 or 12 of 15 !).

People who can't control themselves when they drink, shouldn't drink. But of course, those are the very same people who always claim (when they are sober)that they can handle it.

Funny, I was in one of my regular drinking holes the other night and I had a 6500 bar bill and 2000 in the pocket. The bar owner let me go unescorted to the atm.

The manager probably sees you as a sad alcoholic who would be incapable of staying away from his bar for even a couple of nights let alone a lifetime to avoid paying a B4,500 bill.

Sounds like your Jealous :o
