Sightseeing Places In Bangkok

Whenever I have people visit I like to show them five things:

1 - The Grand Palace for a look at traditional Thailand.

2 - A trip on the river for a look at the old-style Bangkok with kids bathing in the river and people selling out of their boats.

3 - Chatuchak Market.

4 - Dinner at Cabbages and Condoms, which has an incredibly nice enviroment considering it is located in the middle of tower blocks, top class service and cheap prices. Not a plug, just true.

5 - The Londoner, especially on Wednesdays when the place is buzzing on 2-4-1 night.

Lonely Planet I will buy while I am in bankok .

A great way to sightsee in Bangkok is to find a central point (Democracy monument or the likes) then catch the first small green bus you see. Stay on it until something interesting catches your eye and get off and explore. When you've seen enough, get on another one and keep doing this until you've had enough!!! Then comes the fun part, trying to find your way back to where you began. This type of sightseeing is great because you get the thrill of the funfair rides (anyone who's travelled on a small green bus will know what I mean) and also you have the unexpectedness of it all. It's different but what better sights to see than the real ones of Thais living their lives. This is how I learnt to get about in Bangkok also!!!!

Hey, that's exactly what i did when I got here...jump in a green bus with a map of Bangkok, and see where they take you to. You might miss out some official tourist attractions, but you see the real life.

Next step: the boats on the klongs, I recommend northern Bangkok or even better the Thonburi side.

A must for my visitors is China Town. I always drag them through the back alleys.
