Open Dns Singapore Datacenter Is Now Online

Featured Replies

Open DNS now has a server in Singapore according to this newsletter I just received from them.

Singapore Datacenter is Now Online

Our Singpore datacenter is now online and serving production OpenDNS traffic. The Singapore server marks our 12th datacenter globally and the first of a number planned for Asia.

One of the benefits of OpenDNS is that we use Anycast routing in how we run our network, which means that no matter where you are in the world, your DNS requests route through our closest datacenter. For those in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, India and throughout Asia, the new datacenter promises an even faster Internet."

Great, i've been waiting for this for a few years!

I have sent Open DNS a trace route as TOT are still routing it to LA as far as I can determine so not yet getting the benitits of this. Be interested in what other user on different ISP in Thailand are seeing.

Not sure if my setup is working correctly.

Thanks for the info.

About a year ago I tried OpenDNS, it was great in the beginning but it back progressively slow over time, over a period of 4-6 weeks.

After the announcement of the new Datacenter in Singapore, I quickly got on it again, it's good, but there are times when it's slow... I think it all depends on our link (Thailand Gateways) to Singapore.

I think OpenDNS do need to open another Datacenter in Hong Kong to handle and distribute the load in this region.
