The "left" in the UK and Australia last century were as socially conservative as your average redneck.

My family were hard line Socialists who were the first to volunteer for their countries wars and would have wasted no time going and getting their guns if they had felt threatened in any way.

May be the American "liberals" should grow a little backbone and people would stop taking pot shots at them.

Passive resistance only suits those who are prepared to get shot for their beliefs.

UG - you're right about spin - that was an anti-Labour government article, using selected crime figures to attack the gummint.

And not mentioning South Africa, except for a passing reference to Jo'burg, skews the figures completely. Also only 30 countries considered, out of the almost 200 countries in the world today. Selective propoganda.
