BREAKING NEWS: Phuket tour van crashes in Phang Nga

PHUKET: -- Seven people, including at least five Koreans, are receiving hospital treatment after their Phuket tour van slid off the road and into an embankment in Phang Nga earlier today.

Lt Col Songwut Khunjun of the Takuatung District Police said the crash occurred on the Petchkasem Highway in Krasom subdistrict.

The vehicle was on its way to Surakul Pier when the driver lost control in heavy rain, causing the van to plunge 1.5 meters down a steep roadside embankment before coming to rest.

Seven Koreans were in the vehicle at the time, five tourists and two guides.

Markings on the van indicated it was owned by the Phuket-based Wang Talang company.

Names of the injured were listed by police as Mr Son Eui So, Mr Kwon Mim Lae, Mrs Son Min, Miss Park Chun and Miss Chen Chuan Chuan.

Injuries included severe bruises, bleeding head wounds and dislocated shoulders.

All are being treated at Phang Nga Hospital.

The name of the seventh injured person was not included in the report, which identified him as one of the group’s two tour guides.
