Anyone seen a shop selling GPS systems in Chiang Rai ?

Hi!

I think that Sinthanee's shop selling those-and I am allmost sure, that both Honda and Toyota are selling them to.

Makro had a promo on some recently, around 6k reduced from 10k if I remember correctly, not sure they are still there but will check for you at the weekend if you can't make it before then.

If you buy one with SpeedNavi software...which may of the cheaper ones carry..go to the SpeedNAVI website and update the softwarae as it is free for one year, after that 900baht a year. The new software uses the ESRI database and is very current.

Thanks Guys . I'm actually looking for a Garmin model that they've stopped making. Maybe there's some old stock still out there. its got an MP3 player built in and Bluetooth.

I may be able to get to town Sunday. If your in Makro before that Stu. let me know what you find .

Thats the sort of thing brian. I'm looking in thailand first though. Don't want to get stung by extra Tax from customs.

The Peurto Rico maps will be a bonus though :D

Although looking at the price, a similar spec model is more than twice the price here :(

You will find it is better to buy a Garmin here as it is the only way you will get a Garmin map with the updates. If you buy an import you can only buy old maps from Garmin at a high price.

http://www.eaglegps.co.th/ is probably your best bet for Garmin itself.

The alternative is to ensure you buy one of the SmartNavi ones I mentiontioned before as these allow updates though they are not garmin units.

thanks Harry. I'm not too worried about the updates. I'll only be using it a few times a year in the Car anyway.

I'll use it mainly to put me back on the Map when I get lost on the motorbike.

If I can get one with an MP3 player and not too expensive, I suspect with use, it'll self destruct within 1-2 years anyway . negating any need for updates :D

Will you be OK without a Gps? wink.gif

If you have an import you can buy the newest maps from Esri with free update for 1 year.
